1 cup white syrup
1 cup water
powdered sugar
Boil together till hard crack stage (300). remove from heat and add 1 tsp. red food coloring (i didn't have red, i used green) and 2 tsp. anise oil. Pour into greased 11X 7 pan. cool and crack and coat with powdered sugar. (my gram made this every christmas).
on a side note, i thought of my girlfriend Heidi while i was making this. She CANNOT stand the smell of anise/black licorice for reasons i will not write about :)
