UP Pink Power, 11-9-13

Myself & 5 women went to a pool tournament to raise money for U.P. Pink Power. The help people not only with breast cancer but with all types of cancer. We hired Aubri to bring us there an pick us up. I hope it will be an annual thing. They had a photo booth, lots of great basket raffles, silver dollar raffle, music and more. 

I would like to thank my friend Kathy, she somehow told one of the organizers that i had just done the New York Breast Cancer walk. Over the mic, she thanked me and told everyone a little bit about me. I sure was shocked, sitting there listening and then hearing my name. I don't do it for the glory but it was very nice of Kathy to take the time and think of a way to acknowledge me. I appreciate it very much my friend. When you do something like the 39.3 mile walk you have no idea how much encouragement plays a role in completing the task. 

I hope this will be an annual trip for all of us out to Little Lake to support this great group of women

AVON breast cancer walk, October 19-20, 2013 NEW YORK

Today i walk for you mom, i walk in your honor...I also walk for my daughter & son because i worry about family history, i walk for my grandma & grandpa because no one should bury their child, i walk for my sisters who lost a mother so very young, i walk for my other family members & friends who have battled this and for who may still battle this.

I pray for a cure but until then, i will walk. I will walk, i will cry and i will remember the good times with my mother but i will also be mad because I was cheated. My children missed out on someone who would have been an amazing grandmother and so have my nieces and nephews.

I will walk, i love you mom

new fundraiser idea

Since i registered for the AVON breast cancer walk i have been trying to think of a way to raise money. I was thinking about making something once a month for the next 9 months and raffling it off. I am walking in New York this year, the registration is $1800 dollars. I will only use the funds i raise from these fundraisers towards that amount. I am paying out of my own pocket for the airfare and spending money needed in New York. I will see how this first raffle goes, i have one item made so i will post it and start the raffle...

pallet bench i made for "Pampered for Pink" fundraiser for our AVON breast cancer walk. Made from pallets and scrap wood, pillows are made from a piece of foam wrapped in a tablecloth that you would use outside

AVON 2 day breast cancer walk

39.3 miles in 2 days (26.2 on saturday and 13.1 on sunday), yeah I walked them all. I am still very proud of myself for this accomplishment. It was one of the most painful, emotional and satisfying things I have done in my life!

this one had a partylite hurricane, votives and tealights, button pin in a record bowl. This one went for $25 dollars at the Taste for Life last weekend
