quote

When you're children are little they step on your toes, when they are big they step on your heart…my co-worker Lisa's grandmother would say this to her about her children.

It's true, especially about when they are big

zippered pouch

I am going to try to make a couple of these...

un-fried fried chicken

I haven't made this but i will try soon, I can't give credit because i don't know where i got this from, sorry

Dredge it in a little flour, lots of parmesan cheese, lawrey's/garlic powder/pepper (I shake it all up in a ziplock). Place skin down in a buttered or sprayed glass casserole dish. Bake for 30 minutes on 375 and then flip and bake another 30 minutes until golden brown and crispy. So yummy!

I've tried it with other chicken parts but thighs work the best. Light on flour, heavy on parm. Like 1 part to 3. We like lots of lawreys and pepper too but season to personal taste. It's definately a recipe you can play with on seasonings

ring

i have been "shopping" which really means looking on etsy and i fell in love with this ring. Maybe my hubby will see this post...

Holiday crunch

this is amazing !

6 cups Golden Grahams
6 cups Corn Chex
1 medium bag (about 2 cups) mini m&ms
1/2 cup sliced almonds
3 cups shredded sweetened coconut

1 cup light corn syrup
1 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup butter

Mix cereals, coconut, almonds and m&ms together in a large paper grocery bag. Melt butter, sugar and corn syrup in a saucepan over medium high heat. Let boil for 2 minutes. Pour evenly over mixture and stir. Close bag and shake until evenly covered.

i made this for my friend Lisa for her birthday, it turned out pretty good

creamy cauliflower alfredo

http://detoxinista.com/2013/05/creamy-cauliflower-alfredo-dairy-free-nut-free/

I made this "meal". i have always wanted to use cauliflower as a substitute for mashed potatoes. Well i don't need to try that, i am not a fan of cauliflower
Sheena liked it, dairy doesn't always agree with her. My husband gave me an "A" for effort but could only stomach 1/2 his plate. This was a fail for my fan

2-13-14

Longest phone conversation i have had with Bunny, 5:08. The woman can talk but usually not on the phone. She called to thank me for the flowers i sent her, i have been meaning to do that for a long time. 2014 is the year of getting things done !

February 27, inclement weather day

Our third one of the year! ye haw ! I am not wasting today:
  • woke up at 9:30 am, ahhhh
  • coffee and balanced my checkbook, it's payday, another reason today is great!
  • rearranged the living room, cleaned and dusted every surface
  • Tyler went to pick up his vehicle from the shop, the most expensive part of the fix were the wiper blades, THANK god
  • ran to the post office to drop off box tops and campbell soup labels for Hartman
  • stopped at my sisters to drop off a fabric basket to help gather her crap
  • dropped a loaf of gumdrop bread to my friend Lisa S. because her mother loves it and hasn't been feeling well
  • dropped off old pictures to the ski hall of fame, they were my grandfathers but i didn't know anyone in the photos but i couldn't just throw them away
  • stopped at the grocery store, tortellini for dinner
  • did some laundry
  • did some sewing on Sheena's fleece jacket i am making for her
  • watched the hunger games
  • ordered Aubri's senior pictures
what a great day off :)

fed up

update, I am officially done. 4 months ago my sister had a a few boxes to go through. I stopped by today 2-27-14 to drop off the basket below i got from TJ Maxx $14.99 (it's super cute but i am sure it will be destroyed in no time). The boxes were in the same spot and they were still there untouched. I work full time, take classes and keep MY 6 person house clean. Laziness is not a disease it is a habit. I dropped off my last present today, picture below. You see my sister puts her purse and all the other stupid shit she can't part with in a box in there living room, really? pull it together.

Yup i am done. If you want to live in squalor, go ahead.

Before I was fed up...

http://saintmarty-marty.blogspot.com/2013/11/november-23-its-wonderful-day-being.html

Here is what i have done so far to help my sister & brother-in-law...
  • 9-29-13, 1 1/2 hours,  i helped my sister clean in the kitchen , 2 HUGE black garbage bags, 2 small kitchen bags
  • 9-30-13, i bought new curtains for the kitchen & command strips ($25); I called Lakeview school to get numbers for beth & I. I dropped off tags & safety pins for Beth for the Lakeview resale (I hope she makes a ton of money)
  • 10-6-13, 2 hours, i helped "M" clean in the dining room, i built a bookcase that they had in the attic.
  • 10-11-13, i "won" two tall metal file cabinets from NMU's public surplus. These are steelcase file cabinets and i got them for $10 each
  • 11-10-13, helped "M" clean for about 1 hour (you can see the top of the dining room table, that was martin's wish :) ). Steven hung two adjustable 4 foot shelves in the bathroom (shelves were about $35 but i had a $20 rebate for menards)
  • 11-23-13, borrowed a friends truck to pick up furniture, its 14 degrees today and lightly snowing. Aubri and i loaded a couch, chair, 6 drawer dresser and end table (all for free) into the truck and out of the truck into the house. I used a lint roller over the whole couch and sprayed it with lysol, i hope celeste doesn't have an allergic reaction. I got the wood for free for the cubbies below and steven built them, i am hoping this will keep the shoes in order

12-14-13, got a kitchen table and chairs from my friend Kathy for my sister and bother-in-law. the funny thing is, it belonged to my gram before kathy, now it's back in the family. I picked it up and delivered it to them and also helped clean/organize for about 2 hours. Picked up two milk crates for hats/mitten storage $4.79 a piece

aubri made the news again, around 1:38

tickets

yeah, i bought 3 tickets to Germany and i am ECSTATIC ! you read that right, i can't wait to go. I am taking Aubri and her friend Hailee. They will have the time of their lives, we also have a 22 hour layover in New York City on our way home, icing on the vacation cake !

i LOVE to travel, i love new places, i love new food (as long as it isn't slimy or fish like), i love bier and wine, i love architecture (really, i love that shit) and i love Germany with all my friends and wonderful memories. I know i am lucky, i am lucky because my friends open their homes to me so i don't have to pay to stay in a hotel. I am also lucky because i have a job and i have vacation time and i have the ability to save for this trip (although i do wish i was a better "saver").

My husband doesn't like to travel, i do. He likes to buy computers and computer related "stuff". He believes in having tangible items, i believe in making memories and traveling. Well to each his own, i am not going to change him and he is not going to change me.

slide curtain

10 rows done and it is so cool ! or groovy as my cousin says...

I have been calling all over to see where i can recycle some of the old slides i am not keeping. After no luck, i thought i better check to see what kind of project can be made with them.

I HAVE MY NEXT PROJECT :) and i'm pretty excited about it
